ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT
An international company in renewables has initiated a strategic effort to mature its procurement function – as part of supporting growth, risk management, and stronger supplier collaboration.
JUHL/SKAANING has been brought in to lead this development – with responsibility for defining and implementing the core elements of a professional procurement organisation.
“There’s real value in building a solid foundation before growth takes off. Once the structure is in place, it becomes much easier to scale, onboard, and collaborate professionally – both internally and with external partners.”
Krista Juhl
Beyond delivering concrete tools and processes, we work to embed the procurement function into the organisation.
We do this by:
🔹 Facilitating dialogues with leaders and key employees
🔹 Creating clarity around roles, responsibilities, and the purpose of procurement
🔹 Linking procurement to business needs and strategic direction
🔹 Supporting a culture where procurement is seen as value-creating – not as bureaucracy
We believe strong processes only work when they make sense in practice – and when people understand how and why to use them.
That’s why our work is just as much about relationships and mindset as it is about documents and workflows.
We drive progress – not through external “off-the-shelf” solutions, but through presence, clear processes, and the ability to make complex decisions manageable.
Hands-on sparring and development of concrete tools and structures
We work closely with leadership and key functions to build a solid foundation for procurement – both strategically and operationally.
The assignment includes:
🔹 Drafting and updating contract templates
🔹 Developing procurement policies and procedures
🔹 Creating Codes of Conduct, NDAs, and other core documents
🔹 Establishing processes, roles, and governance structures
🔹 Developing a practical and user-friendly procurement handbook
We balance deep expertise with a pragmatic approach – ensuring that what we build is both anchored and usable in day-to-day operations.
Professionalising Procurement – with a focus on both structure and behaviour.
Our work has reduced risk and improved collaboration – both across functions and with suppliers.
The company now has a clear direction for how procurement should operate – along with a set of concrete tools that ensure consistency, quality, and progress.
"Other organisations can take away that it's worth taking ownership of procurement early on – even when the function is still small."
